This 100 year old cabin is rustic, cozy & completely off grid. Lighting is solar and heating is by propane fireplace. There is no running water, and the bathroom is an outhouse. All qualities we look for in the perfect getaway.
If you decide to stay here in the winter, like we did, be sure to dress warm. Marjorie describes it as having your own private winter resort, if you don’t mind working a little bit to keep warm. She provides an endless amount of cozy blankets for added comfort.
As we pulled into the driveway, the rest of the world slipped away, as we were enveloped in total seclusion and silence. A smile spread across my face, already knowing that this weekend was going to be just what I needed.
Simple.
Marjorie’s property is completely closed off by the wilderness on Mount Chase, near Chase, BC, Canada. There are tons of trails for snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling.
We were pleasantly surprised by the toboggans Marjorie has at the cabin for her guests to use. Her laneway makes the best toboggan hill, and we took full advantage.
We spent the evenings under lamplight reading, playing cards, watching intense games of chess, and drinking moonshine. A weekend spent here with our friends was just what we needed to shake those winter blues.
We finished off our trip with a hike above Pillar Lake.
Also available for rent is the Ptarmigan Hills Cabin in the Trees. (Accommodates 4)
